Buddhism and Society

The modern Western ideal of the separation of church and state was not operative in most of Buddhism's Asian history. Buddhism has always had a close relationship to various governments, kingdoms, and empires. As such, Buddhists have had much to say about how to run a country, for example, or proper economic policy. Buddhists have had much to say on interpersonal relationships and the nature of humanity.
