Arhats and Bodhisattvas contain listings of important figures of enlightenment in early Buddhist history and literature. Arhats are the enlightened followers of the Buddha and the ideal figure in Theravāda Buddhism. The Bodhisattva is an enlightened being who appears in various forms across the Buddhist world both as ideal and archetype and often associated with specific spiritual powers or representing specific aspects of enlightenment.
